Suicide & Crisis Lifeline DON’T WAIT! Call 988
Shock and disbelief, feeling of isolation, even in a crowd, loss of concentration and inability to focus, problems returning to work or other activities, compulsive behavior like overeating, or drugs and alcohol, physical and/or mental exhaustion, guilt for not preventing, anger, a sense of rejection, spiritual struggles, anxiety, worry about yourself and others and deep and profound sadness and depression are natural responses. Others have felt the same. YOU aren't ALONE!
LOSS provides support, connection, resources and understanding after a suicide and for months and years that follow. Our team is made up of other survivors of suicide, first responders, and mental health professionals. We serve as a guidepost for the newly bereaved in their process of grief and recovery. Privacy is foremost.
Volunteers typically reach out to those recently bereaved by phone, text, email, or whatever avenue is most suitable, to say "I help you overcome what I know from experience is a heartrending loss."
Burdensome paperwork, legal issues and final arrangements.
Conflicting emotions: grief, anger, blame.
Rejection, abandonment and severe family and community disruption.
Many people who have lost someone to suicide are helped by talking to others who have been through this experience. Reaching out to a suicide grievers' group can alleviate the isolation that many experience, and the shared experience and wisdom of others can offer help to find your way through this difficult journey.
We are hosting monthly support group meetings in Berlin, Maryland. Meetings are open to only those who have lost someone to suicide. There is no judgment, only caring, listening and compassion. Hosts are certified grief counselor and crisis response professionals.
